TUFC Weekend Update
TUFC ParentsI would like to congratulate all teams that participated in Tournaments last weekend. Our teams were spread in three locations, Atlanta, Orlando and Panama City. Our U16 Boys qualified for the Disney Qualifier, and this in itself is a huge accomplishment. They play the best teams around the SE and also represent our club in the Florida State League, the only team in Tallahassee to do both. With some good competition, the team won two and lost one, all games being very competitive. Our U17, U18 Boys and U18 Girls traveled to Atlanta to play in the Publix Atlanta Peach Classic. We decided to push the teams at this level and put them in high level brackets to ensure the strongest competition available. The U18 Girls competed well and due to injuries had some U16 players guesting with them from TUFC. They did not manage to 'win' any games, however the level of play they were exposed to was a great experience for them moving forward. Our U17 Boys enjoyed a very competitive weekend. I first hand managed to watch all games and was impressed with the way the team performed. They lost 4-1, 3-2 and tied 2-2. With a bit of luck, the scores might have been different. The U18 Boys also had a good weekend, they won two games 1-0, 1-0 and lost the third 2-1. They missed out going to the Semi's by Goal Difference. This was a good gage to see where are level is at, and for the future where we need to be as a club, and it is clear to see we are not too far away from some of the best teams in Atlanta. In Panama City, we had 12 teams competing for the Endless Summer Tournament. The feedback from the coaches has been very positive, with most teams having good competitive matchesFrom the 12 teams, we had one team make the Semi's, six finalists and two champions. We are very proud of all the teams, and our academy boys and girls showed very well. I am very excited that the season is underway. Thank you to the coaches who have worked with the players over the summer, dedicating their free time to ensure that the players are ready for the season. This makes a big difference as a club, that when we go to the first tournament of the fall, that we are already somewhat prepared even with the inclement weather we have had recently. Our new practice jerseys should be ready to give out tomorrow at practice.
